I was THRILLED to the gills to hear Kris Allen sing Falling Slowly tonight. It's just amazing, that's all. Good for you, Jason Mraz-esque young 'un -- you found a gem and have exposed a sizable audience to some lovely music.

Back in the day

One of the first CDs I owned was the Counting Crows' August & Everything After. I had that and Matthew Sweet to get me through an entire summer. It could've been worse.

Musica Electic

I'm in the midst of making the modern version of the "mix tape" -- much easier than in days of old, where you had to cue up songs and work on the ever-elusive perfect transition between songs. There was something magical about the whole process, but I'll lose the magic in favor of the convenience.

Music is just dang awesome -- the way it evokes memories of people, places, emotions -- all of it -- is simply amazing. I'm no great scholar on this topic, but music, and our ability to make it and experience it -- points to divinity.
